In the Florida Keys, help for survivors of sexual violence doesn’t have to be far away, hard to access, or wrapped in red tape. At Christina’s Courage, we believe every survivor deserves immediate, compassionate, trauma-informed support—regardless of when the assault occurred, whether or not they choose to report, or what their background may be.
We’re proud to be Monroe County’s only rape and crisis center, offering free, confidential care to anyone impacted by sexual violence.

We’re here to support survivors—from crisis through long-term healing. Our services include:
Forensic Exams (SANE Exams)
We provide survivors with private, trauma-informed forensic exams conducted by trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. Unlike a hospital ER, we create a calm, respectful environment focused on survivor choice and comfort. Exams are offered at no cost, and you do not have to report to law enforcement to receive one. Counseling & Therapy
We offer free, trauma-informed therapy with licensed professionals. Whether it’s been days or decades since an assault, our therapy is grounded in respect, trust, and evidence-based practices designed to meet each survivor where they are. Advocacy
Our advocates walk beside survivors through every step—from crisis intervention to court accompaniment. We help survivors understand their rights, navigate their options, and regain control over their story. We also offer safety planning, referrals, and support for loved ones. Legal Aid & Victim Compensation Guidance
We help survivors access legal protections like restraining orders and provide support through the legal process, if they choose to report. We also assist with Florida’s Victim Compensation program, which can help cover therapy, relocation, medical expenses, and more. Learn more about legal aid services in the Florida Keys.

Living in an island community presents unique challenges for survivors:
- Limited access to local services
- Long travel times to reach mainland resources
- Small-town dynamics that may prevent reporting or disclosure
That’s why we’ve built a center that’s community-rooted and survivor-focused. From Key West to Key Largo, we’re committed to ensuring that no survivor falls through the cracks because of where they live.

Christina’s Courage is more than a crisis center. We are:

- A trauma-informed space, where people can reclaim their bodies, voices, and futures
- A hub for education, changing the conversation around sexual violence through outreach in schools, workplaces, and community events
